edWeb.net Announces Mackin Educational Resources as the New Host for “Exploring eBooks for K-12”

MackinPinwheel_sedWeb.net, a professional learning and social network for the education community, and Mackin Educational Resources, a leading provider of print and digital media to PK-12 schools and libraries, are partnering to present a series of free webinars in the online community, Exploring eBooks for K-12.

Exploring eBooks for K-12 is a free professional learning community (PLC) with more than 3,500 members. It was started by edWeb.net to help educators share information and ideas on integrating e-books and digital content into school libraries and curricula. As the PLC’s new host, Mackin Educational Resources has lined up dynamic webinar presenters for the spring. Heather Lister, Rachel Langenhorst, and Shannon Miller will present engaging free webinars for Exploring eBooks for K-12.

The integration of webinars with an online learning community, provides educators with a place to post and get help, access resources, and view the archives at any time. edWeb.net provides CE certificates to educators who attend live events or watch the archives. This certification of participation helps educators get credit for engaging in personalized professional learning.

Lisa Schmucki, founder and CEO of edWeb.net, commented, “The Exploring eBooks for K-12community was one of the first ones we launched. This is a topic that touches educators at all levels, from the library to the classroom. It’s a very hot topic, so we are looking forward to Mackin Educational Resources hosting the community and presenting webinars with the outstanding presenters they have lined up!”

“Finding a high-quality venue with a perfectly targeted audience always presents certain challenges,” stated Troy Mikell, Director of Marketing at Mackin Educational Resources. “That is why we jumped at the opportunity to support e-book advocates and share our company’s offerings on edWeb.net’s known and respected platform.”

The first webinar from Mackin Educational Resources, “The Hidden Advantages to Digital Libraries,” will be presented by Heather Lister, a middle school teacher-librarian, on Thursday, Mar. 12 at 4 p.m. Eastern Time. Heather will present an interactive one-hour session that will explore the many benefits a digital library offers students, including e-books, websites, and databases. Librarians and educators can register here for this free event.
